March 12, 2020
This afternoon, Governor Mike DeWine issued a mandatory school closure to begin on Monday, March 16, 2020. This closure is in effect for a period of three weeks and will be revisited at a later date to determine additional expansion.
In preparation for this "extended spring break," as the Governor termed it, we will be operating on a two-hour delay tomorrow (Friday, March 13, 2020). During the two-hour delay time period, staff members will be working to provide an additional thorough cleaning of all school buildings. Staff will also be working to prepare for learning to take place in an alternative/virtual setting.
I know we are all concerned about the safety of our children. I assure you we are working, as always, to ensure a safe learning environment for our students. Keeping that in mind, we need all students to attend school tomorrow (unless they are sick). This will allow the staff to prepare the students for the next three weeks of alternative/virtual learning. During the day tomorrow, we will provide all students with a Chromebook to take home. If a student has an appropriate device at home, they may choose to not take a Chromebook. If any family has issues with internet connectivity, please contact your respective principal. We will work to develop an alternative for connectivity issues.
At the end of the school day tomorrow, we will be closing the campus for all activities until further notice. This includes practices and community events planned on the school campus.
I want to stress that these are unprecedented times. The COVID-19 health issue is a fluid situation, and I appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we work through this together. We will continue to provide additional timely information as it develops.
