I want to start with expressing my appreciation for your support and flexibility. We are all working together to keep our children and community safe. Today, our staff and students worked together to prepare for alternative/virtual learning over the next three weeks. Each student was provided with the opportunity to take a Chromebook home for his or her studies.
Today, Governor Mike DeWine expressed that schools should continue education. He stated all school buildings should close to students for the next three weeks. Our staff will continue to work. Their work may look different from normal but will utilize flexibility and creativity to support the needs of our district.
During the coming weeks we will continue to communicate with our families. Please watch for communications to come in a variety of formats (Final Forms, OneCallNow, etc.). If our students and families have issues or need assistance (mental health, student meals, school device problems, etc.), contact your respective school. Phone availability at each school during the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm Mondays-Fridays will be our goal. Email is another great option. Teachers will communicate with children through their virtual studies.
I know many of you have questions. I assure you we are working hard to gather answers for all of them. I can share, all extracurricular activities are postponed until further notice (no practices), and at this time Spring Break will continue as scheduled.
These are rapidly changing times in the education world and our world as a whole. We appreciate your support, and Lucas Local Schools will continue to work hard to meet our students’ educational needs.
